We love this appliance. We use it for our coffee bar (creamers) and other beverages. We use the freezer for all our toddler’s food.
Good solution for small spaces

I’ve had two of these refrigerator/freezers installed in a recently renovated condo kitchen about two months ago. The plan was to maximize the counter space while providing adequate cold storage for 1 or 2 people. The drawers provide easy storage of fresh and frozen food. The design of the freezer drawer does not lend itself for some foods, like large frozen pizzas, but packages of veggies and meat store easily. The fridge drawer works well with the addition of plastic trays or baskets so small items can be stacked. Milk cartons and juice bottles fit upright. The reason for one star reduction was two fold. The ice maker is a space eater in the freezer. While handy if you use a lot of ice, it is slow to refill the bin. I only use one of the ice makers and turned the other off and use the ice bin to hold bags of frozen veggies. The mechanism that makes the ice takes up about 25% of the freezer drawer space. Previously this refrigerator/freezer was offered with the option of no ice maker. I would have used that option for one of the units, but it was not available at the time of purchase. The second reason for the one star reduction is the extremely cold refrigerator drawer(s). I set the refrigerator temperature to 42 degrees (warmest possible setting) to keep food from freezing in the fridge drawer. The drawers stay between 32 and 36 degrees. Meanwhile the freezer is running from -5 to 20 degrees when set at around zero. I used digital maximum/minimum thermometers to monitor the drawers for 2 months. Tweaking the freezer temp colder will cool the fridge drawer and freeze fresh food. These are not intended for long term frozen food storage, but are good if you are a regular small basket shopper.

This fridge looks good and does function well for the most part. But, as noted by others, it’s alarm system is finicky. If you close the top drawer and forget to then give the bottom drawer a nudge to make sure it is snugly closed, odds are you will get an alarm in ten minutes or so. Sometimes even if you follow this two-step process, you still get an alarm. Frustrating. Please don’t just tell me you appreciate the feedback, give us a solution or tell us we are just outa luck.

We purchased this product along with a KitchenAid French door co8nter depth refrigerator wh3n we remodeled our kitchen in 2013. In 5 years we have spent nearly as much in repairs as it would cost to purchase the appliance new. We have had to replace the control board twice. We are also on our 3rd icemaker in the French door unit. I am so sorry that we ever purchased KitchenAid appliances. They are so unreliable.
Great purchase!

We bought this unit to replace another brand. This unit is far better than the other brand! The ice machine is more reliable. We also like the size of the ice cubes.
